Absent Area Representatives: Christel Fritzsching, Lottie Vance, Mary Duvall and Mary Troxler Call to Order--Skip Dews, President called the meeting to order by welcoming all participants and delegates. Judy Smith gave the opening prayer. Skip introduced all board members, committee chairs, and area reps.
Reading of the minutes--It was moved and seconded that the reading of the 2007 Winter board meeting be dispensed as well as the reading of the 2006 annual meeting. Motion passed.
Treasurer's report--Georgia Day The MWGA account balances report for 2007 was distributed to each table. Overall total of funds as of 6/22/07 is $52,155.42. The organization has 75 club members and two individuals. Total expenses have been $2484.85. Magnolia scholarship fund has a total of $1283.56 and the MWGA tournament fund has an overall total of $5,598.53. This does not reflect money from the 2007 State Am that has not been paid out. The Ms. team report has a balance of $1000.00 that has been transferred from the tournament fund. Money for the "dollars for scholars" should be collected at all ladies tournaments and from donated honorariums. It was moved and seconded that the treasurer's report be accepted. Motion passed.
Old Business 2007 Junior Scholarships--Jeanne Taylor Junior scholarships have been awarded to Brittany Hanna, Jennifer Judd and Audrey Johnson for the '07-'08 school year in the amount of $1000.00 each.
New Business Area Reports Gulf Coast--Julie Landry--Announced Sunkist ladies tournament first Tuesday and Wednesday of October. West Central--Pam Bowman--No report East Central--Pam Posey--No report North East--Jane Gooch and Rachel Pate--No report North West--Gai Davis--Welcomed participants to the Delta area, 2007 State Am in Clarksdale
Committee Chair Reports Seniors--Sissy Kern--2007 State Seniors tournament will be held at Canton Country Club September 18 and 19. Host motel is Comfort Inn. Rules--Pam Schisler--Commended Jason Bailey and his Clarksdale staff for the outstanding job of marking the course for the '07 State Am. Could use more rules people to help out with tournaments. Newsletter--Sheila Haynes--Any participant in any state tournament will automatically receive the newsletter. Use of the MWGA website is encouraged. Entry forms will be included on the website in the future. Tournament reports: 2007 State Am.--Fran Ward--Clarksdale facilities for the tournament have been outstanding. It is encouraging to see so many Junior participants. 2007 Four-Ball--Fran Ward--There are three openings remaining for this event. State Juniors and Tri-State Juniors--Jeanne Taylor--State Juniors was held last week at Patrick Farms with only 10 girls participating. Continue to recruit Junior players. Tri-state juniors is comprised of players from Arkansas, Louisiana and Ms. Lou Hart is captain of Ms. team. Team Ms.--Fran Ward--Entry to qualify for the team will be on the Web-site. This consists of Ryder cup format competing with teams from North Carolina, TN. Ala. Fla. and Ms. Florida will be hosting the event this year at Dade City on November 3-6. Qualifying will in July at Hattiesburg country Club. SWATCA Board--Joy May--Joy is the in coming President of the SWATCA board. The Directors tournament will be in Dade City on November 3 with a brunch on Sunday the 4th. Ms. will host this event in November, '08.
Bids for 2008 state tournaments There are no official bids at this time for the '08 four-ball or the Seniors. Bids were read from Diamondhead and Sunkist. A secret ballot of delegates selected Sunkist for the 2008 State Am. It was suggested that Diamondhead be approached about hosting in '09 but the board prefers not to have the tournament in the same area two years in a row.
Nominating committee report--Judy Smith Nominations were presented for the following board openings: President-elect--Sammye Johnson Secretary--Bonnie Lovdahl West Central Area--Charlene Hughs East Central Area--Pam Posey North East Area--Judy Hosaflook North West Area--Gai Davis Gulf Coast--Julie Landry There were no nominations from the floor. It was moved and seconded that the slate of officers be approved as presented. Motion passed.
Introduction of Ms. Point System--Lou Hart and Fran Ward Hand outs were distributed outlining and explaining the new point system adopted for Ms. to be used in determining the players who will represent Ms. in the USGA Team and SWATC Championships. This system will increase participation in Ms. state events. There will not be any qualifying event for SWATC beginning in 2008 however the captain's pick will increase to four. The committee developing this system consisted of Pam Posey, Sheila Haynes, Lou Hart, Fran Ward and Skip Dews.
Ms. Sports Hall of Fame Lou Hart will be inducted into the Ms. Sports Hall of Fame on July 27th in Jackson. Lou's father will also be inducted and this is the first father-daughter duo to be selected for this honor. Lou has been involved in MWGA since 1968.

Jason Bailey was recognized as head pro at Clarksdale Country Club and commended for the fine job he and his staff have done in planning and preparing for the tournament. Recognition was given to Skip Dews as out going President who then passed the gavel to Fran Ward to assume duties January, 2008.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. Motion passed.
