The winter board meeting of the MWGA Board was held at 10:00 a.m. at the Deerfield Country Club on Saturday February 20, 2010.

Samye Johnson, President opened the business meeting. All Board Members and Committee Chairwomen were introduced. Copies of the Bylaws, Tournament Manuals, Update of Optional Senior Division for the manual and contact information for all Board Members and Chairwomen were distributed. A motion was made and seconded to appoint Cathy Bailey and Rachel Pate as chairwomen of the Awards Committee. Motion Passed. They will be responsible for prizes and tee gifts for all state tournaments. They will work with the local tournament chairwomen.
The Board then broke into groups for summer planning of tournaments and responsibilities. The Awards committee and Rachael met with local chairwomen of our state tournaments for 2010. Budget planning for the tournaments and awards were discussed. The Area Reps met as a group to compose a job description with the duties and responsibilities of being an Area Representative. We are going to have written duties for all officers and reps, which will be used as guide lines for new and incoming personnel.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer, Rachel Pate presented the 2009 financial statement and gave a detailed financial report. She also presented and reviewed the proposed 2010 budget. It was moved and seconded that the financial reports be accepted. Motion passed. She discussed the MWGA accounts and explained the various expenses that are paid from each account. She has determined that MWGA needs the services of a CPA to review our financial records and file our tax return. A motion was made and seconded that she do so. Motion carried. A motion was made and seconded to change the amount given to the pro hosting the State Amateur to $300.00. Motion carried. A motion was made and seconded to purchase new tee markers and a used photo projector. Motion Carried. There was much discussion and concern given to funding for SWATCA and JUNIORS, due to lack of income. We will need to assess ways to fund these entities in the future.
Reading of the Minutes
It was moved and seconded that the reading of the 2009 summer board meeting and 2009 annual meeting minutes be dispensed. Motion passed. A history of Reps and Officers that had served for the past eight years was handed out.

Reminded everyone that 4-Ball will be at Canebrake

Announced two new member clubs: Canton and Lake Caroline
Northwest--Gai Davis and Patsy Hawks
Announced they had lost 4 member clubs from the Delta Area.
Northeast--Judy Hosaflook and Kay Simmons
New member-Natchez Trace
Motion made and seconded for approval of new memberships from Canton CC, Lake Caroline and Natchez Trace. Motion carried.

SWATCA--Jeanne Taylor
SWATCA tournament will be held at Skyline Country Club in Mobile, Al. October 18,19 and 20th, 2010. A fund raising tournament and qualifying will possibly be held at Lake Caroline . The minutes for June 9, 2010 were amended that Jeanne Taylor did not resign from the SWATCA Board and would continue to serve through
2010.
Juniors--Lou Hart-Reported by Jeanne Taylor
We will be hosting the Tri-States tournament at Greenwood Country Club, Greenwood, Ms. On June 4th and 5th . Our state tournament will be held at Patrick Farms in Brandon, Ms on August 3rd and 4th . Two scholarship recommendations will be made at the June state meeting.
A motion was made and seconded to name one of the Magnolia Scholarships the Emma Braddock Scholarship. Motion carried. This is honoring Emma for her annual contributions to the scholarship fund and for her lifelong efforts in teaching and encouraging the game of golf.
Seniors--Sissy Kern
Deneice King has begun making preparations for the Senior Amateur at The Oaks in September.

Recap of 2009 Summer Tournaments
New Business
Samye announced that all state entries will be combined into one mailing. This will save on expenses and let all players know dates and information on all tournaments early in the year. A motion was made and seconded on cancellations before the cutoff for entries in a state tournament will be $50.00. This will be deducted from your refunded tournament entry fee. Entries that are cancelled after the cutoff entry date will lose their entire entry fee. Motion carried.
A motion was made and seconded to raise annual membership dues to $60.00.
Motion carried.
The dates and sites of all state tournaments were handed out and will be included in the minutes. We have possible sites for 2011 and will continue to seek sites.
