Treasurer's Report

Treasurer, Rachel Pate presented the 2011 financial statement.  She reported that the MWGA is in good standing with the IRS after they completed their eight year audit. The CPA hired by MWGA got our tax exempt status reinstated for the Magnolia Scholarship. She reviewed the financial reports that were furnished to the members attending. They contained a report of income and expenses on all 2010 MWGA tournaments, transactions of the MWGA operating account, a list of the paid member clubs and all MWGA accounts and their balances.

President Johnson told the members that $16,000.00 had been spent in the past four years supporting SWATCA, Junior tournaments and Tri State, and the USGA team. We are no longer a member of SWATCA, so there will be no further expense. The junior program has become self-supporting. The USGA invites a team from all fifty states to their tournament. Our USGA Team has received funds from the Miss. Dept. Of Tourism in the past, but will not receive funding for the next tournament. This is a three person team chosen from MWGA members, with low handicaps and able to attend, to represent the State of Mississippi. Members were asked for their opinions on helping to fund these players. The membership stated that they would like for the MWGA to help support this team in some way.
