The summer board meeting of the MWGA board was held at 5:00 p.m. at the Reunion Country Club on Sunday June 13, 2010.

The following board members, area reps and chairwomen were in attendance:

Samye Johnson, President called the meeting to order and reviewed the agenda that had been handed out to board members.

Juniors--Lou Hart

We hosted the Tri-States tournament at Greenwood Country Club, Greenwood, Ms. June 3rd  and 4th. On the last day we came back to win 7 of 8 matches and won the tournament. Congratulations to our Mississippi Juniors.
Lou presented two scholarship nominees, Mary L Gallagher and Esther Huffman. She listed their achievements and GPA's. A motion was made and seconded to award each candidate a $1000.00 scholarship. Motion passed. They both will be attending Mississippi State University.

Reading of the Minutes

It was moved and seconded that the reading of the 2010 Winter Board meeting and 2009 Annual Meeting minutes be dispensed. Motion passed. It was announced that name tags would be given to voting delegates only, at the Annual Meeting which should make it easier to identify and count votes.

Treasurer's Report

Rachael reported the IRS is conducting an audit of the past eight years and that she has a CPA working on the audit for us. Most of our problems were that forms were completed incorrectly in the past years. Our accountant does not foresee any problems with the scholarship fund retaining a tax free status. MWGA funds that had been accumulated over the past years from various sources of unspent expenses and fund raisers that had been separated from our other funds, has been moved to the MWGA umbrella accounts at the same bank  and a Certificate of Deposit was purchased. 
       
  Area Directors Reports

Gulf Coast--Deneice King
Deneice reported that everything is in order for the Senior State Amateur and that she and The Oaks are prepared.

East Central--Celia Allen and Anne Payne:
Reported that 4-Ball has been moved to Hattiesburg Country Club due to Canebrake having to install new greens. Dates, Host Motel and entry fee remain the same.

West Central--Lynn Harmount and Charlene Hughes
Lynn will be helping recording scores at the State Am.

Northwest--Gai Davis and Patsy Hawks

Northeast-- Kay Simmons

Committee Reports:

Reports will be conducted at the annual meeting.

Juniors: Lou Hart was called on at the beginning of the meeting to present her report.
 
Tournament Responsibilities: State Amateur

Volunteers are needed to assist Deneice King on the score card committee. They will be re- adding and checking that they are signed, dated and attested. Lynn Harmount and Kay Simmons will be recording scores for the tournament, Gai Davis and Patsy Hawks will handle awards and trophies at the annual meeting.

New Business

Area Directors Nominations:
North West--Patsy Hawks nominated for 2nd2 year term.
North West--Cissye Gallagher nominated for 2 year term replacing Gai Davis
East Central--Ann Payne nominated for 2nd2 year term.
Gulf Coast--Carol Conover nominated for 2nd2 year term.
West Central--Lynn Harmount nominated for 2nd2 year term.

2011 State Tournament Bids:
State Amateur--Dancing Rabbit, Four Ball--Tunica National, Seniors--Lake Caroline 

Areas of discussion:
That we may have to raise entry fees due to increases in cart rentals, cost of meals and other tournament expenses. If expenses continue to rise or  have low entry numbers in tournaments we will need to consider limiting number in the field. Ask members opinions on stroke play versus match play. These items will be discussed at the annual meeting and acted upon at the February 2011 board meeting if needed.
All entry forms will be on MWGA web site next year.
